Tap Texture

This is one of my favourite image. I went through a phase of making ordinary everyday objects look extra-ordinary. 2 things makes this picture work for me. First is the level of detail caught by the 35mm f/1.4 L. To quote someone who reviewed this image,

‘It’s so crunchy, that you have to like it… because you ‘feel’ it’ (made by mrhollygolightly of http://www.flickr.com/photos/joelaron/ . For full text of review go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/righteye/341947707/ )

That crunchy feeling. What a brilliant way to describe it.

The second factor that makes this one of my favourite image in the angle of the tap itself within the image. It just seems to be larger than itself with the narrow depth of field as well as the distorted perspective.

This image was taken with the Canon EOS 5D with the 35mm f/1/4 L. Settings as follows: f/4 1/80th ISO 100 aperture priority

Here’s a neat exercise. Go and take 30 pics of items in your kitchen or yard and look for different perspectives. Use your widest wide-angle lens and go in close. Real close.
