In a few weeks time, if all goes according to plans, I will be going to Cambodia for 8 days as part of a social work group. There is a mixture of both excitement and distress as I plan my trip. Excitement because of the photo opportunities afforded to me. Distress because of the mental and preparation I have to go through.
Lets talk about the fun part. I am currently planning to bring the following equipment:
2 camera bodies
– ID Mark III dSLR
– EOS 3 film camera (with Kodak T-MAX 400)
– EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II
– EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS
– EF 50mm f/1.8 (or f/1.4)
– 580 EX
– 580 EX II
I think that just about covers it. I was tossing between the primes and the zooms and decided that the flexibility of the zooms is more important though I will be bringing 1 prime lens and the EF 50mm f/1.8 seems like the likely candidate. Small, light and cheap. I decided against the EF 85mm f/1.2 L because of weight as well as slow focussing. I don’t want to being the EF 35mm f/1.4 L because the EF 16-35mm zoom covers that range. Though if I can find a 135mm or even a 200mm I’ll bring that instead of the telezoom. Again, weight considerations.
I’ll talk about the emotional preparation later……
